Geotechnologies and coastal watershed sub-basins

Application of Geotechnologies in guiding Earth use based on the impacts of global climate change: coastal river basins in the state of São Paulo and the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The project consisted of the application of Geotechnologies in the assessment and guidance of Earth use in the face of the impacts of global climate change on the coastal environment delimited by coastal hydrographic basins, having as a spatial area the area between the coast of the State of São Paulo and the State from Rio de Janeiro. Applied research had support in the use of geotechnologies strongly linked to satellite image processing tools and generation of digital maps, with the purpose of allowing guidance in the strategy of occupation and use of the Earth, contributing to the reordering of regional geographic space, such as imperative action for territorial development, given the likely impacts (ongoing and future) of climate change in the southeast region of Brazil. As a spatial cut, with treatment on a larger scale of analysis, the priority coastal zone was established between the north of the State of São Paulo and the south of the State of Rio de Janeiro, taking as reference the municipalities of Caraguatatuba (SP), Ubatuba, ( SP), Parati (RJ), Angra dos Reis (RJ) and Mangaratiba (RJ).
